FAQ
Understanding and labeling our feelings allows us to identify exactly how we are feeling, why we are feeling that way, and how best to manage and choose regulation strategies. Building emotional vocabulary allows for greater specificity in labeling our feelings, helping us understand, manage and accept feelings better.
When children are skilled in labeling their emotions, adults are better able to understand and support their needs. Children further benefit in understanding and supporting the needs of others.
Building emotional intelligence fosters a healthy mental well-being and promotes lasting benefits of: achieving personal goals, greater empathy, increased academic achievement, greater self-awareness, quality relationships, satisfaction at school and work, relating to others and sensing their emotional needs.
The FeelLinks name was generated from the mission and heart of the company - we must establish a strong link to understanding and managing our own feelings and the feelings of others; promoting greater self-awareness, self-management and social-awareness - creating positive relationships.
The FeelLinks logo contains colored links that represent each of the doll's colors. The links overlap and meet together in the center creating a bond signifying the connection between all of our feelings and the mix of feelings we experience daily.
The double e's in word FeelLinks create a heart shape representing all that we feel inside our hearts and the care and empathy our hearts show towards others.
FeelLinks is intended for children ages 4-9. It can absolutely benefit children younger or older, as each child is unique in their development and needs. Drawing, writing, role-playing, verbal-communication, and non-verbal communication, can all be a part of the FeelLinks toolkit. FeelLinks is intended to be used in the best way that suits your child's unique needs.
FeelLinks set includes four dolls and one journal. The four feeling dolls are double-sided and represent eight core feelings, including: Happy/Sad, Proud/Embarrassed, Calm/Excited, and Angry/Scared. Each doll has touchpoints on their head, heart and belly, signifying places we feel our emotions. The doll’s bright colors, facial expressions, kid-friendly size, soft tactile fabric, and squeezable texture, make them desirable for children. Dolls support children with communicating verbally and/or non-verbally, labeling, and regulating. Dolls assist with regulation through cuddling, squeezing, role-playing, calm breathing together, and more.
FeelLinks journal begins with informational pages for adults, including: FeelLinks goals and purpose, science-backed research on emotional intelligence, guide to using FeelLinks, and establishing journal guidelines with your child. The journal includes regulation strategies - how to calm my body and mind, ‘fun pages’ linked to self, family, and feelings, feeling words to grow on, my favorite ways to calm my body and mind, and more! After that, you will find 60 full-page spread feeling journal pages for response and reflection. Lastly, the journal ends with feeling definitions, glossary, and references.
